Opulence Featured in the Financial Times

07 October 2026

We’re delighted to share that Opulence and our founder, Emma Broom, have been featured in the Financial Times, with the story also highlighted on the newspaper’s front page.

The article explores the role parents play in helping businesses get started, sharing Emma’s experience alongside those of other founders. For Opulence, it is a proud milestone and an opportunity to recognise the family support behind the business.

Where Opulence Began

Emma founded Opulence in 2022 from her parents’ study, using £2,000 of her own savings and drawing on her experience in corporate events and vineyard hospitality.

Her vision was to create bespoke wine experiences that gave corporate groups access to Kent’s exceptional vineyards, while taking care of the planning and details for the organiser.

While the initial investment was Emma’s, her parents provided the space, encouragement and practical support to help her take that first step. Their study became Opulence’s first office, and they have been part of the journey ever since.

From being sounding boards for ideas to helping pack wine bottles and joining Emma at networking events, their contribution has extended well beyond providing a workspace. Joining in with the wine tasting has, unsurprisingly, required very little persuasion!

A Personal Approach to Corporate Hospitality

Four years later, Opulence creates and manages bespoke wine experiences exclusively for corporate groups, including client entertainment, team away days, in-office tastings and overnight retreats.

Emma remains personally involved in planning and hosting the experiences, bringing together her knowledge of the vineyards, relationships with their teams and understanding of what corporate organisers need.

From itineraries and transport to guest requirements and hosting on the day, Opulence takes care of every detail, giving organisers time to enjoy the experience with their guests.

The Financial Times feature offers a glimpse into the beginnings of the business and the people who helped make it possible. It is a moment to celebrate how far Opulence has come, while recognising the support of Emma’s parents throughout the journey.

Our thanks go to the team at Starling for the opportunity, and to Aliya Shibli at the Financial Times for sharing Emma’s story.
