Domaine Evremond

A unique partnership between Champagne Taittinger and their British friends, Hatch Mansfield, this marked the first time that a Champagne house had invested in the United Kingdom.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Chilham, Kent, Domaine Evremond is a distinguished English sparkling wine estate with a story as captivating as its wines. A vision brought to life by lifelong friends Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and Patrick McGrath MW, the estate pays homage to Charles de Saint-Évremond – an exiled French poet at the court of Charles II and the first true ambassador of Champagne in England. Spanning 125 hectares, with 60 dedicated to vineyards, Domaine Evremond is a testament to passion, craftsmanship and a shared dream of producing world-class English sparkling wine.

Following two years of extensive planning and consultation, Domaine Evremond secured approval to build its winery and Cellar Door, carefully designed to complement its stunning location within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Every detail was considered, from topography and ecology to heritage preservation, ensuring a harmonious balance between innovation and sustainability. The winery is two-thirds underground, a first in the UK, allowing for a naturally gravity-led winemaking process that enhances quality while minimising environmental impact.

This subterranean design also ensures optimal conditions for wine production, with naturally cool temperatures reducing energy consumption—mirroring the underground chalk cellars of Champagne Taittinger. With the capacity to hold up to 1.5 million bottles, the winery will oversee every stage of production, from winemaking and bottling to storage and disgorgement. A true blend of tradition and forward-thinking craftsmanship, Domaine Evremond is shaping the future of English sparkling wine.
